In a bizarre partnership that defies usual forecasts, the game developer has announced an virtual collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising Thanksgiving event continues from November 25 through December 22, offering no-cost extra story content for Shadows players.

Strange Questline Disclosed

According to the authorized release, "An unusual encounter leads protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a new quest, where whispers of banned ceremonies and fearsome changes resonate through the obscurity." The storyline introduces a "oddly garbed woman named Ada" who assigns the characters with traveling into the Gemstone Grotto—a key location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her ally from a clandestine cult.

The adventure concentrates on "peculiar experiments and a fearsome foe" and is open to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.

Familiar Settings and Transformations

The teaser highlights the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was formerly where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through eras. The trailer concludes with a striking moment showing a character, likely the captive, transforming into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Items and Extra Content

Players who successfully complete the adventure will acquire an unique katana together with multiple objects secreted throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also features purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, including:

• Titan-themed outfit for Yasuke
• Mikasa outfit for Naoe
• Special weapons
• Survey Corps mount

Third Free Story Content

This patch also adds the game's latest free story addition, titled "The Enigma." This humorous quest pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange characteristic skills: Naoe debuts a theatrical version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-fatal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Mystery" also includes a original environmental puzzle that may eventually shed light on some lingering questions from the main storyline.

This marks scarcely the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with well-known anime series. The series previously featured a 2020 collaborative story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
